Required as soon as possible, but flexible start date for the right candidate.
Are you a knowledgeable and skilled primary trained teacher looking for a new challenge? Are you passionate about a nurturing approach? Do you want to work with a dedicated team, who are principled, believing that every young person should be given the best possible opportunities to grow and succeed through their education?
School for Inspiring Talents is an independent therapeutic day school operating across two sites in the Southwest (Newton Abbot & Ashburton) supporting vulnerable students aged 5-16 who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) or trauma. We are committed to providing the appropriate nurture and educational strategies to allow our inspiring young people to truly flourish.
We are keen to appoint a compassionate and resilient teacher to work at our Newton Abbot site for junior students. All our students have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs due to the complex life histories. They all have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP’s) and therefore require specialist support. As a result of their experiences, they may, at times, display behaviours that challenge. We are therefore looking for a special teacher who can care for our unique cohort of students, whilst engaging and inspiring them with exceptional learning and teaching that breaks down barriers and challenges with high expectations.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can model and create a culture of empathetic nurturing with a determination that all can succeed, embodying our school motto to ‘Be the best we can be’. Ideally you will be experienced in teaching the primary curriculum and have success in working with students with SEND. All teachers at our school take on subject leadership – and although not necessary, it would be advantageous if you were happy to specialise in either Science, RE, Art and Design and/or Design Technology. However, for whoever fulfils this role, consistency and reliability is key, as well as being a team player who is happy to work with colleagues and support the growth of our team.
Life Chance is committed to transforming our students, and their families’ lives, which is why we have invested in the very best staff to support our mission. As an organisation we place a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and have an excellent employee benefit scheme.
Visits to our school to meet our team and students are welcomed and strongly encouraged. Please email Scarlett our HR Manager to arrange a tour or with any further queries you may have.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. This role requires an enhanced DBS disclosure.
Please note that in the case of a high volume of candidates applying only successful candidates that have been shortlisted to interview will be contacted.
Completed application forms should be submitted to Scarlett, s.guest@sfit.org.uk.
